About Melanie

Life doesn’t ask our permission before it turns everything upside down. Whether you’re facing a sports injury, recovering from surgery, or embarking on a health and healing journey, these transitions are life-altering—and often, they’re deeply isolating.

As a therapist, I specialize in working with clients who are navigating the emotional and psychological challenges that come with physical injury or major health changes. These experiences can leave us feeling vulnerable, frustrated, or even disconnected from our sense of self. I believe that the mental health component of healing is just as vital—if not more—than the physical rehabilitation process. Emotional resilience is often the foundation for sustained physical progress.

My passion for this work is personal and professional and has deepened my commitment to helping others facing similar challenges

If you’re seeking a therapist who understands the emotional complexities of physical recovery and major life changes, I’d be honored to walk alongside you on your journey to healing—mind and body.

My approach to counseling fosters resilience, emotional regulation, empowerment and personal growth, helping clients find stability and strength during pivotal moments of change. My therapeutic style is compassionate and relationship-centered. It is of the utmost  importance to me that I meet clients where they are and work towards their self-indicated goals.  I will always be straight forward, transparent, and honest. I like to incorporate some humor as well  as consistency into my sessions to help create a relaxed and comfortable environment.  I am a compassionate and skilled therapist specializing in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), dedicated to guiding adults of any age through life’s transitions.

While I have worked in the social work field for 15 years, for the last 4 years I have served as a high school social worker at Columbus City Schools, as well as an Emergency Department Clinician at Nationwide Children’s Hospital. In my role at Children’s I serve as a support to parents and caregivers often going through the most challenging day of their lives. I am passionate about assisting people as they navigate grief, knowing that it is never a linear process, but rather a very personal journey and one I feel honored to be a part of. I also see a need for and feel called to supporting individuals who have aged out of youth counseling services and are in need of counseling support as they enter adulthood. I recognize this can be an overwhelming transition, and losing mental health services and having to go on a waitlist is not a sustainable solution. I also have experience working with adult survivors of domestic violence and human trafficking, trauma, and those navigating significant life changes.

I have evening and weekend availability in addition to week day options!
